Rise of the revolutionaries...
Well @least in movies. The other day I watched this movie "Aparichitudu". I liked the movie for many
reasons, some of which I will put down here.
Before I begin, off late I can count some of the movies that focus on the rising corruption in the Indian
society. Aparichitudu, Okaadu or Arjun (one of these Mahesh babu movies), Bharatiyudu (The Indian) etc; are
the some. However Aparichitudu and Baharatiyudu are by Shankar and I always liked his style.
Some reasons that I liked Aparichitudu:
1) It tackles some of the core problems of in the Indian society. However strange the 'solutions' in the
movie may seem.
2) It uses the concept of multiple personality disorder for the hero. Quite ok. I do not know if any person
can actually be that strong, but we never know the power of mind.
3) Vikram I thought was wonderful in his acting. The interrogation room where Aparichitudu and Raman keep
switching while the hero talks is extremely well done.
4) Vikram happens to be one of those heroes who possess a lot of talent, unlike the hoardes of these
"son-of-an-actor" actors who have been flooding the movies nowadays.
5) Shankar - he ruleZ
Now for the actual topic.
Why are we seeing some of these revolutionary movies where a hero takes the law into his hand? Infact they
are on the rise. One possible reason, nobody takes responsibility of the law and order. This means that
everyone in this society suffers. It also means that the common man cannot do anything about it.
Get this - If you see that auto drivers are charging more, illegally, you have to lodge a complaint in the
police station. Now how many times would you have to run around the cops to get an FIR lodged is random
number. Even when the FIR is lodged, the case does not proceed. Even if it does, the complainant has to
run around the courts for god knows how many years. Even if the case comes in complainant's favour there is
the factor of the Unions and that would mean politicians get involved. Instead of the problem being solved
the problem gets worse.
So how can we solve this - We cannot solve this in this country. Sadly. If one person tries to do something
for the country, he is pushed around by hundred others. JFK said - Ask not what your country has done for you
ask what you have done for the country.
I do not agree with that statement. If I have only one life and all of it is spent of fighting court cases
against some guy who is too powerful to be brought to justice, why I even attempt @ doing it.
The government, instead of preaching the people that the people should refuse to pay bribes should first
punish the people who are already guilty. Frankly - I do not have any hope for justice in this country
and maybe that is the reason that I have a great liking for movies like the above.
I ask the goverment - Ask what you have done to the people, forget about people doing anything for the
country. We pay the taxes that you swallow anyways.
Gandhi had fought the British. It was an Indian who had killed him. Ironic isnt it?
