    Projects

  •
  • Automatic Railcar Inspection (Ongoing project)

I am currently working on Automatic Railcar Inspection, a University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign project funded by the American Association for Railroads. We propose to identify the image characteristics and probablity associated with the health of the safety appliances in railcars, types of models useful for representing the railcar appearance when the safety appliances are in satisfactory condition and, if necessary, unsatisfactory condition as well., application of the same to learn the descriptions of safe and unsafe appliances, and application of the results to railcar classification.

  •
  • Visual IDE for Java (Integrated Development Environment)

Rather than writing numerous lines of code to describe the appearance and location of interface elements, this tool helps simply add pre-built objects into place on the screen. This project has generated a tool for creating applications and to generate GUIs as this task involves generating a lot of code. It should allow a programmer to create classes, graphic interfaces for the applications. This application allows the user to drag and drop controls on to a frame from the control box which again has buttons representing various controls using a property window, set the layout of the container controls using the layout chooser, write event handlers for the controls using the code editor window.

  •
  • Consumer Indexing for a Distribution Feeder

The project gives a GUI (Graphical User Interface) through which the information pertaining to a consumer and device could be stored in a database. It will have other modules which can help retrieve the consumer information based on his name or telephone number and other connectivity information. The main application of this project is in the fuse-off call operations which is one of the potential Applications of a DAS (Distribution Automation System). This project was done as a part of the IT Applications for Electric Power course.

  •
  • Digital Video Watermarking (DCT Domain)

A watermark is hidden information within a digital signal (such as image, video, audio.) and is integrated into the content of host signal itself, and requires no additional file header or conversion of data format. The main purpose of this project is to embed subtitle information into a video and show it as per the option specified by the user whether to show the subtitles or not. The information will be embeded into the video with permissible level of threshold to the quality of the video. This was done as a part of the 'Digital Image Processing' course.

  •
  • Secret File Sharing Using AES Algorithm

The Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) is a privacy transform for IPSec and Internet Key Exchange (IKE) and has been developed to replace the Data Encryption Standard (DES). AES is designed to be more secure than DES: AES offers a larger key size, while ensuring that the only known approach to decrypt a message is for an intruder to try every possible key. AES has a variable key length-the algorithm can specify a 128-bit key (the default), a 192-bit key, or a 256-bit key. The project aims at implementing the AES algorithm, such that whenever we need to share a secret file it can be encrypted using this algorithm and transmitted to the destination and decrypted at the destination side to get the original file.

  •
  • Host-Based Intrusion Detection System

The objective of Host Based Intrusion Detection System is to build a more secure and lightweight system with more flexibility of framing rules by the system administrator to detect intrusion and also for the analysis of network based on the packets as well as the users that are currently connected to the machine. It provides an interface for framing rules and also for statistical and graphical analysis of the available data.
