About Me, My Name is P. Nirupam Pratap Reddy. I am studying B.Tech 4th year in IIIT-Hyderabad. I am about to pass out in two months. I shall include some details about me in this page. I was born in Hyderabad on September 13. Till I was around 2-3 years old my parents were in Hyderabad. My father was transferred to Nellore. He was the Joint Director of Regional Planning. Here I was made to join Modern High School. I studied L.K.G there. Later we shifted our house in Nellore because of some problems with the house owners, as me and my brother used to create a lot of trouble in and around the house. We moved to a house in the Dargamitta area, and here I joined another school by the name St. Joseph's High School. It was the biggest in Nellore and to date the largest school (in terms of area) I have ever studied in. Here, I studied from U.K.G to 4th class. I had a friend by name Rabbul Nawaz, he was the second in the class. He was a good friend. His house was near by and we used to play daily. Today he contacted me (Nov 21, 2006) saying that he is working in AU-KBC. Nice to see the internet coming to aid in making old friends meet again. Looking forward to his photograph. I shall upload his photograph after I scan it. These are some landmarks in Nellore that I remember, Jawaharlal Nehru Statue, Penna River, Isaka Samudram, Nellore Cheruvu, St.Joseph's High School, Raja Rajeswari Temple, Ayyapa Swami Temple, Nellore Railway Station, My house in Nellore, Modern High School, Potti Sriramulu Statue, Krishna Kaveri Kalyani (Movie Theatre), an over bridge near the Railway Station (It always stinks). Those were days when a TV and telephone in a house were luxury items (Trunk Calls had to be booked). Nellore was near to our native place Renigunta. We used to travel once in two months to our place and used to spend some time with my grand dad and grand mom. My father was transferred from Nellore to Rajahmundry. Here I studied in Sri Gowthami Public School. Even here I used to perform well in studies. My memory about Rajahmundry is not as comprehensive as it is about Nellore. I studied 5th and 6th in Rajahmundry. Here I had to learn Hindi for the first time. It is a language that I hate to this date (But, there were some more fateful encounters of mine with this language, please read further to know about them). My dad's jurisdiction was East and West Godavari (two districts in Andhra Pradesh). He used to go on official camps frequently. I used to go with him on almost every camp. I think, I covered almost the entire East and West Godavari. East and West Godavari are full of green fields and temples. We used to visit each and every temple around. The important ones that I remember are the following, Rally, Chinna Tirupati, Talupulama Talli, Annavaram. The areas in and around Rajahmundry that I happen to remember are the following, Devi Chowk, Dawaleswaram, Cotton Barage, Cotton Museum, Manasa hospital, My School, our apartment, my dad's office. I had two or three friends there. The atmosphere in the class room used to be lively and we used to play in the class when it rained outside (as most of them never turned up). I used to collect stamps when I was in Rajahmundry. I took my collection to the class one day and some crooked fellows stole some of my collection :). From that day on, I gave up collecting stamps and just archived the existing collection. I forgot to mention that my mother is a native of West Godavari. From Rajahmundry my dad was transferred to Vishakapatnam. I liked the place very much. I plan to settle in Vizag after my retirement. I like the place for its beaches, Kailashgiri, port and scenic beauty. The population is not as high as it is in Hyderabad. I studied from 7th to 9th in Vizag in SFS (St. Francis De Sales). The father (principal of our school) was always harsh towards me. He used to beat me with his huge stick for each and every silly issue (but not frequently). When it came to studies, I kind of hated the teachers in SFS, as most of them used to scold and beat students. But, even then I like that school. It had a very large campus with two buildings. I used to play football in the school with my friends. We used to go on school picnics to different beaches around Vizag (E.g.: Rishikonda etc). We lived in the Municipal quarters provided to my dad by the Municipal Corporation of Visakhapatnam. It was in the Asilmetta area. I also used to like the Visakha Utsav which was conducted every year ( I do not know whether that is being continued) These are some landmarks in Vizag that I remember, The Sampath Vinayak Temple, The Durga temple on the beach road, Municipal quarters, City Video, Municipal Corporation of Visakhapatnam, VUDA park, Kailashgiri, Bhimili, Ramakrishna Beach, Karachiwala, the Ice Cream shop where I used to eat ice creams regularly, Dolphin and Daspalla hotels, Melody and Alankar movie theatres, Timpany School, Siva Rama Sweet shop, Poorna Market. I think I remember quite a number of places in Vizag. Though I remember my friends by face I just remember one of my friend's name (Sravan). I shall try to update the list as soon as I remember some. Today (30th August 2005) they called me up on my cell phone. It seems they found my contact on my homepage. I got to remember their names. They are : Sandeep, Suresh, Vamsee and Sravan. Felt nice talking to my old friends. Was talking to them after 6 years. (Though I had their contact addresses with me previously, I lost them). From Vizag my dad was transferred to Hyderabad. Here I joined St. Andrew's High School. I studied 9th and 10th classes in that school. I had to change my first language from Telugu to Hindi and I really had to struggle a lot to cope with that subject. I never like my Hindi teacher. I did not like my school mates. I just had 3 close friends in Hyderabad. The school culture was different from what I had seen before in other schools. I could not digest that much freedom being given to students, which I had never seen being given to students in any of my previous schools. I am still in touch with my close friend Srinidhi and my class mate Dikpal. From here I went on to join Ramaiah, where I forgot everything in the world for 2 years. It was just Maths, Physics, Chemistry and a bit of French for my IPE. I used to study for around 10-12 hours a day clearing all my doubts in different subjects. I was pretty strong in the area of physics. From here I went on to join IIIT and now here I am in the fourth year writing this ... | |
