Current

I have joined Adobe as a software engineer in June 2009. I currently work with the Acrobat team at Adobe's NOIDA office.

Sarnoff Corporation/Serial Innovations

I previously worked as an engineer for Sarnoff / Serial Innovations. My work there was primarily on Computer Vision algorithms: their development, implementation and building systems on top of them. Detection, Recognition and Tracking of objects in videos (monocular as well as stereo) in real-time form the core of my work at Sarnoff.

Hobbies/Interests

I am also interested in Data structures and Algorithms and Machine Learning. I am also a fitness freak and a good actor. If you are looking for information about me or if your interests match with one or more of the above you could find my page useful.

Higher Education

I graduated from International Institute of Information Technology - Hyderabad with M.S. in computer science (specialization in Machine Vision and Machine Learning) and B.Tech in computer science (with honors in Computer Vision). You can find the details of my work on my thesis page at CVIT and also by looking at the links on left. It is dedicated to IIIT Hyderabad where I learned all that of I know of computers and much of what I know about life.

Background, Interests etc.

I am a native of India / Andhra Pradesh / Nizamabad / Varni. After early schooling at Varni I obtained my primary and secondary education in the town of Bodhan [VMHS and VPS -- till std. XII]. After that I dropped a year and got in to the BTech program of IIIT-H in 2001. It was a tough decision during those days as IIIT-H was just 3 years old!!.

As I pointed out earlier, I spent a large chunk of my last few years working on problems related to computer vision and machine learning. Biometric Authentication, Document Image Analysis, Dynamic Event Analysis in Videos, Face Video Processing, Multiple View Geometry, Sequence Modeling, Video Enhancement are some of the areas I worked on. Apart from these I enjoy problem-solving, programming, data structures and algorithms and their analysis.

I have strong belief in the famous anti-authoritarian ethos of the MIT in which it is believed that one's social status should be determined by raw intellectual prowess rather than by social class or organizational position. I somehow managed to hold on to this belief although I am not considered (and do not consider myself) intelligent. Needless to say, I admire smart brains and try to learn from them. Recently, I became a fitness freak and started working out fairly regularly. For more information about me / my interests / my work please visits the links on the left. You could also write to me if you really need any important information.

I do blog although the frequency of posts and their quality is subject to availability of time and interest. I choose the topics to ramble upon quite randomly and hence can not i really assure that they fall in to a particular genre.

Acknowledgments

I am deeply indebted to the following people/organizations for their invaluable assistance during my higher education:

  • Dr. C. V. Jawahar: My incredible advisor. He introduced me to the fields of computer vision and machine learning. I gratefully acknowledge the motivation, technical and philosophical guidance that he has given me throughout my undergraduate and graduate education.

  • The GE Foundation: For the scholarship that allowed me to take up M.S. in the first place. The scholarship accounted for two years of tuition and hostel fees and my stipend. It is a great opportunity for students with meager financial resources. The details concerning eligibility etc. can be found on their site.

  • Punjab National Bank: For the educational loan that supported a big chunk of my B.Tech expenses. They are perhaps the only bank who give away educational loans with no collateral (up to 7.5 lacs) and at excellent interest rates. The process is quite simple too. Students of IIIT-H can contact their Hi-tec City branch at Cyber Towers, Hyderabad.

  • Government of Andhra Pradesh: For the Prathibha Scholarship that accounted for the smaller chunk of my B.Tech expenses. I am not sure if the monetary component is still high, but we used to get to the tune of Rs. 20k per annum. All students from Andhra Pradesh who enter IIIT-H are eligible for this scholarship and usually the institute takes care of the formalities. The application form is available online in case they stopped doing it.

  • My Parents: For their resilience amidst tons of problems and acute financial pressure and for the several sacrifices they made to make my education a reality. Without their continuous support, I would not have gotten here. I am blessed to have such wonderful parents.

Lead us from falsity to truth
From darkness to light
From mortality to immortality
May there be Peace! Peace! Peace!
